Free service pricing calculator · No account needed

Try a service price before you sign up.

This calculator estimates what to charge for a service or job from your time, costs and target profit. It does not calculate what your business is worth, a sale price for the company or the value of financial options.

A three-hour garden tidy might need to cover £75 for time, £20 in direct costs, £15 towards business costs and £25 target profit. That gives a starting price of £135 excluding VAT. Replace these example amounts with your own.

Your starting price

£135.00

£75 time + £20 job costs + £15 business costs + £25 target profit. Excludes VAT.

The profit input is an amount in pounds, not a margin percentage. An allowance for your time is part of the pricing calculation; it is not automatically an accounting expense.

This browser-only calculator does not save or submit your figures. It is a simple estimate, separate from the full member Pricing Studio.

How do I allow for business costs?

Divide costs such as insurance, software and admin by the number of jobs you realistically expect to complete. For example, £300 a month spread across 20 jobs means £15 per job. Check travel and admin time too, and avoid counting the same cost in two places.

What if customers will not pay that price?

Review the scope, job time and costs before cutting the price. Compare what local customers actually buy and why. A higher service tier should include something specific, such as extra work or a different turnaround, with its extra costs calculated.

The Polar approach

Answer normal business-owner questions. Let Polar handle the pricing calculation underneath.

No “hourly recovery rate” test and no blank finance spreadsheet. If something is difficult to know, Polar explains it, offers a transparent starter estimate where appropriate, or lets you enter your own figure. The aim is to make small business pricing easier to understand without hiding the assumptions underneath.

A calm guided journey

Build a service price one understandable decision at a time.

Pricing Studio keeps the questions simple while building a more useful pricing calculation underneath.

1

What are we pricing?

Choose one clear service, job or package first.

2

How long does it usually take?

Use a realistic normal job time—not your fastest ever day.

3

What should your time earn?

Start with the number the business owner actually understands.

4

What does the job cost?

Add the costs that apply to this particular business and this particular job.

5

What about business costs?

Choose “I’m not sure”, let Polar estimate a starter allowance, or enter your own figure.

6

How much profit?

Choose Small, Healthy, Premium or enter the £ amount you want to test.

7

What makes Better and Best better?

Higher prices need genuine extra customer value—not just a bigger number.

The clever bit stays underneath

Simple pricing questions in. Useful business numbers out.

Polar keeps the language human but still connects the decisions. The resulting price can later support plans, forecasts, quotes, website offers and other Polar tools instead of being trapped in a standalone calculator. That makes Pricing Studio part of the wider business system rather than an isolated pricing worksheet.

Not three random prices

Polar does not simply multiply the same service and call it Premium.

Good · Core

The clear starting service

The core service at a price built from the business assumptions.

Best · Premium

The strongest service level

Premium pricing should come with a premium reason— certainty, speed, scope or service.

Pricing support—not false certainty.

Pricing Studio uses the assumptions provided by the business owner. Before using a price with customers, the business should check the real scope, latest costs, local market, VAT/tax treatment and any professional financial advice that applies. Polar helps the owner think clearly; it does not promise that a price will be profitable.
